I always reckoned that the reborns would be the ones wanting to off themselves. You "know" what awaits you, so why not just hurry up the process.

I think sometimes...it's better to just go about your business...I mean heck..........not even Jesus could sway err body...so why would I think I could....But I do see what happens to quite a few people when they go down a much wider path.....eventually it takes a toll...might be when their really old..might not.....I know I'm faaaaarr from being perfect.....too much room for error.....I do know no one gets out alive ...lol....I know I care about most people. The young and old....animals...but I still hunt.....and help anyone I can as long as they are willing to try...But I do hate evil... I might be judgemental...but not to condemn...I forgive so I can be forgiven...because I know I'm not perfect....and really....through all the ages of mankind to now...for me to say that I have it all figured out would be kinda dumb....But I'd like to think I'm on the right track or path...I don't hate people for what they choose to follow or believe or don't believe. I've learned what pity really means. You feel bad not hate.....ok I'll stop..for a while :)

I would really love to see religion be a banned topic on the forums. I know this is the opinion section but I couldn't bring up race or sexual orientation withouth getting the ban hammer.

    Just a thought.

Daniel, I would have to boycott the forums if such a ban came into effect. You CAN discuss race and sexual orientation on here. It has not been banned unless nasty words are used in the process.
All religions are based on faith and ignore the science that does not support their faith and promote any science that supports their faith. You can't have it both ways
Atheists on the other hand base their beliefs on scientifically proven facts and if a peer reviewed paper came out stating that it has been proven there is a god, i think all of us would become believers, not based on faith, but based on scientific evidence.
If someone comes on the forum and stated that the Holocaust is a myth and Jews run the world, I think we all better for it. We then have a better Idea of who they are and can judge them accordingly.
I just have issues with superintendents who rely on science to do their job everyday to do their job and then disregard it on all other issue.
I have yet to see a good grass grower who operates a golf course on faith

So Red, science is always right? - good luck with that one

    Is the world flat?
Does the sun revolve around the earth?
How's the global warming thing going? Last I heard we were actually cooling which they tried to spin into the whole global warming thing. Remember the cover of Time Magazine from the 70's predicting that greenhouse gasses would produce the next ice age? That was based on science too...

You can find a scientific study to prove just about anything you want if you look hard enough.

Last week on the MSN homepage there was an article about how we may have evolved from birds or some other non-monkey. They can't even agree on that. Check out the 2nd law of thermodynamics (Law of Entropy) and tell me how evolution fits in with that.

And Mr. Wallace, there is a link to my email address under my name on the right of each post.

The beauty of science is that it is willing to take new positions as new scientific evidence comes along. Religion ignore evidence that does not fit. The 2nd law of thermodynamics is used in this argument all the time even though it is used completely out of context.
DNA evidence traces yours right back to little squiggly primordial bacteria and yes by the way of Muslims, monkeys, birds, worms.

There is a "Good Book" you should read called "The Greatest Show On Earth" by Richard Dawkins. It speaks to the 2nd law of thermodynamics and everything else you have mentioned. It is written in layman's terms and can be easily understood by even Luddites like myself. You won't, because it would challenge your faith, but if you did, you would be better for it

The exodus of people from these forums, if there was any type of "discussion ban", whether on religious opinion, political opinion, etc. would make this place an uninteresting ghost town, and frankly, there'd be better places to visit than wasting time here.
This forum has become a MORE vibrant and interesting place since the website change when they specifically allowed comments to stand, as ridiculous and outlandish as they may be (regarding Obama, Romney, religion, atheism). I love that anyone can take a shot at anything here. It's good. I can tell you why it's good if you're interested, but I don't think you are.

That you suggest censorship because someone's opinion upsets your beliefs is an unfortunate play you've made.
There's a pretty good argument that what you just suggested here is anti-american.

We have guys here that are steadfastly against each other's opinions and beliefs, but, I believe, would fight for each others right to hold them and express them no matter how screwed up we think each other might be..to do otherwise is unthinkable.

At what end would it stop? Who gets to say what topics are permissible? Should we have a "topic panel" that decides what we should be able to talk about? Seriously?

Maybe I'm crazy, but it sounds to me like your own foundations and faith are the things that need some attention if all it takes to shake you up is some stupid pictures and commentary from liberal heathens. Most guys that are really sure of their beliefs don't sweat that stuff (either way). It's beneath them.

Very well stated Steve....Thank You...I came across this Sunday and watched it...This man has been a lot closer than any of us I'm sure. The way he explains is profound and Divine and Simple...It's sooooo easy for people to question their point of existing in the here and now when your body is healthy and young....But the older you get, the closer you are to realizing that you are Mortal and This plane is Finite, that the doubt of the there and after becomes more apparent. Not everyone does..unfortunately

Robert, near death experience does not prove an afterlife. The term near is the key word. I have no doubt people in a situation where they are near death still at the point of going brain dead or recovering from near brain death still have a functioning brain producing all sorts of endorphins and other neurological chemicals that put them into a dream state. When we sleep each night we might as well be dead other than the fact we remember to various extents that we have dreamed.
The question of why they report similar "dreams" could be two fold. The chemicals the brain produces may be similar, but more likely it is based on religious beliefs rather strong or just background. Other religions have near death experiences and they report "dreams" that better fit their upbringing of what to expect in death, such as 70 virgins awaiting their arrival.
Bring back someone who has been dead for a couple of years relating heavenly experience and I shall be more likely to beleive

I love life-after-death accounts, Bob. They vary from " I saw God" to I became one with the universe. I think the common thread with them all though is brainwave activity or brain function. Simply put, you weren't really "dead" if you can remember almost slipping away to whatever you were experiencing. "Dead" is dead, meaning no brain activity to even tell you you're having an experience in heaven or hell or the astral plane. So, in the end right, that's why it's called faith -- you're either willing to believe something someone tells you is true, or, you're not willing and you need further evidence. Also, dudes...this a picture thread. Take your discussions of the meaning of life to its own thread where you can do your best guessing.
