For more than 15 years you have poured your heart and soul into creating the beautiful course that so many people enjoy. I’ve seen firsthand the long hours, the early mornings, and the countless decisions you make to ensure everything is just right. What others see as “perfect greens” and “pristine fairways” is really the result of your dedication, leadership, and passion for your work. I’m so proud of the way you lead your team, not only with knowledge and experience, but with patience and integrity. You’ve built more than a golf course—you’ve built a place where people create memories, find peace, and enjoy the game they love. Your commitment and love for what you do inspire me every day. I just want you to know how much I admire you, and how grateful I am to walk through life with you. With all my love, Your Wife.

I couldn't be happier to send this note of thanks for everything you've done to make WCCCC a great course to play. Since your arrival, we have been privileged to putt greens that are amongst the best, and most consistent in the Philadelphia area. Being fortunate enough to get invitations to some of the best clubs in the Philly area, I always come back to greens that are just as good and often better. Thanks for the passion you bring to your work. We are lucky to have you maintaining our course and I know every member feels the same as I do. Happy Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day!

Darn you Jim Schell! Before you arrived at Oak Hills, I could always get a tee time and blame bad rounds on terrible fairways and lumpy greens. Since you and your team have taken over, I have no excuses and have to actually reserve a time! You and your crew have transformed Oak Hills into a gem. Guests—good golfers from brand name private clubs—tell me things like ‘Oak Hills’ greens are fast, fair and true’ and ‘Never a bad lie in the short grass’ and ‘I wish our grounds crew hustled like yours.’ I've been in Norwalk 30 years and can now say ‘I played Oak Hills this morning’ and have golf buddies say they wish they had too. Thank you.

Tenison Park Golf Course

I just wanted to share my appreciation for your work on both courses at Tenison. Of course the highlands course is in god shape. However, I was particularly impressed with The Glen Course when I played it a few weeks back. I can appreciate that The Glen is harder to maintain, but really appreciated how much care it seems to have received recently. The greens are good (usually on par with highlands), but was particularly impressed with the fairways and rough. These usually struggle in the summer, but you've taken care of them. Thank you!

To Pete - our favourite Golf Course Superintendent! On Thank a Golf Course Superintendent Day, the girls and I want to pause and celebrate you. We see the long hours, the early mornings, the quiet dedication you pour into your work. It’s a role that often goes unnoticed, but your passion and perseverance never do, not by us. You bring so much heart to everything you do, and it shows not just in the course you care for, but in the life you’ve built with us. One of our favourite memories is a fall day during COVID, when you took us on a cart ride to the pumpkin patch you grew on the grounds. While many farms and pumpkin patches were closed or restricted, you created something special and shared it with us. You didn’t have to, but you did. And the girls still talk about it and how lucky we were to have that experience together. That’s who you are, thoughtful, generous, and always going the extra mile for your girls. You are a wonderful husband, an incredible father, and a role model we are proud to call ours.

Otter Creek Golf Course is an historic 1964 Robert Trent Jones golf course. It is beautiful but had been neglected by the city for years. We became the new stewards in 2022. We were blessed to discover that with the purchase came an amazing grounds crew. This crew was led by Brent Downs and Mitchell Eickhoff. We immediately moved Brent into our DOA role and elevated Mitch into the Head Superintendent role. Since then, we have worked with Tom Kite and Billy Fuller to redesign the Otter Creek course and have started the renovation. Mitch has grown and met every challenge with passion and confidence. He is always present and engaged, committed to detail and follow through, develops and gets the most out of his team, and possesses a wonderful demeanor and spirit. I could not be more pleased and grateful knowing Mitch Eickhoff is watching over Otter Creek Golf Course!

Cory has been with us through our full-course renovation and now through our third full year since the renovation. The renovation and the grow-in have been challenging, especially this year with the difficult weather conditions we experienced all summer. Cory has worked closely with our DOG, Brent Downs to lead his team, including Broc Schneider, associate superintendent, and Travis Fredrickson, assistant superintendent, to make sure our golf course remained one of the best-maintained courses in the state. Our weather has been challenging in so many ways: too wet, too hot, too dry, too humid; yet the course has been in near-perfect conditions despite Mother Nature's behavior. Our grounds crew works their collective tail off to keep our 27 holes in wonderful shape.

Nate is the best! Our course is consistently among the finest in the area, and with a major overhaul on the horizon, he hasn’t slowed down one bit. Not only does he ensure we have the best possible course to play right now, but he has also provided invaluable insights into shaping the vision of what we want the course to be in the future.

Thank you so much for taking care of those pesky red bushes outside my backyard. It’s wonderful to have a clear view of the golf course now. Keep up the good work.

James is one of the best out there! I’m continually impressed with the quality of golf and the attention to detail during my visits to The Athens Country Club. Don’t let his quiet demeanor fool you, he knows how to set that course up to be an absolute beast!

"Pooster". You are the best of the best. Thank you for everything you do for us.
Destry Rogers
Thanks to "Pooster" James Drinkard for keeping our courses in the best shape possible, and for making golf easier, by us never having to worry about a bad lie in the fairway, with only bad lies in the rough, where it's our own damn fault.
Tommy Jennings.
Thank you, Todd Ingram! Your work making our courses what they are today is deeply appreciated!

Superintendents throughout Arizona have been extraordinary ambassadors and educators for the full suite of regulators and elected officials we must engage in order to preserve the industry's access to water, and their work has laid an incredible foundation for the Arizona Alliance for Golf. Thanks to the superintendents, we can tell an amazing story of leadership and innovation as it relates to golf course water use. I've been fortunate to spend countless hours with superintendents from all over the state, all who are extraordinarily gracious with their knowledge and time. We've been fortunate to have superintendents chair the Arizona Alliance for Golf Water Committee and our current chairman, Rob Collins, has been an exceptional spokesperson, advocate, mentor, and teacher for the past many years. It's because of agronomy experts like Rob and his colleagues all over the state that we have such a great story to tell -- my thanks to each and every super in Arizona!

Ben, well done and much appreciated to you and your crew for making this years 2025 Club Championship one to remember. The course was in great shape, greens were wicked fast, and the pins were difficult to knock down.

As a relatively new member to the Stonebriar CC, I want to thank you for all the work you and the Stonebriar Team have done since 2021. The club course is always in pristine condition (as the game is intended to be). Also thanks for cutting down that Tree on 9!

A story for all Superintendents. In 1995 I was at GCSAA headquarters in Lawrence, KS for a committee meeting. During a break I went to the bookstore and bought my then 5-year-old son, Michael, a tee shirt that asked "Love golf? Thank a Golf Course Superintendent." A few weeks later we were visiting my parents, and Michael was wearing the tee shirt. He stood in front of his grandmother so she could read the shirt out loud. My mother reads the shirt and then says, "That's right, Michael. Your Dad's a Golf Course Superintendent, isn't he." Michael quickly answers "Nuh uh, Grandma. My Dad's a Golf Course Supernintendo!"
