Anyone using Edeuce? At least that is what it is called up here. It is a 2-1-2 glycosyn and 0-2-3 induction product combined that is supposed to help systemics work better. Had the Floratine rep here the other day and he says it helps with all systemics, such as Primo, Banner, Killex, etc.

How is that chelation working with that Urea? :D

Is the urea in Floratine chelated?

I used to be all Floratine until my rep switched to ENP. Great results on 40+ year old Pencross mix on sandy loam crap soil greens in central NC, and the prices are also right. Also use solubles for N to get the rates I want. Unfortunately, there is no magic potion out there. I think there are several good lines out there, some just spend more on advertising and flash so they seem to get all the talk. Look around, read labels. You will see that many of these products are the same with a different name on the bottle. Just my .02.

This sounds like a Chevy/Ford debate.

    Chevy

Calcium Nitrate 3 times a week. With lots of Dolomite, and verticut and aerate any chance I get. Flora who? Monthly balanced granular apps without primo. Inherited a Ph of less than 5. Too much Ammonium sulfate? Old Super ran away with 30 years worth of records.

My rep says that the Perk Up is better during hot weather with the additional calcium. My rep was the Director of Grounds at Doral and a TPC Venue that I can't remember right now. He is very knowledgeable, so when he recommends pulling one aspect of our program out for a while, I listen. I will start spraying Astron again along with 23-0-0, Per-4_Max, and Protosyn 7 to 10 days before we aerate greens and the day before we aerate.

I think they have some great products...I like the Protesyn, PK Fight, and Pervade especially. But I still can't figure out why anyone would pay over $90 per gallon for 8% calcium glucoheptonate...? To each his own, I guess.

    Heath,

I don't use the Perk-up personally, however I don't believe the only thing in this particular product is calcium glucoheptonate. Perk up also contains simple and complex carbohydrates, and naturally occurring compounds. I'm with you on the price of product though Astron is 455/case, Perk-up 450/case, Per 4 Max 400/case. I'm currently using a lot of there foliar as well as soil apps. I'm trying to tweak my program to alleviate some of the expense. The problem I have is I've got my Floratine program down to a tee. Tweaked a lot of the rates, spraying on seven day intervals and the greens look better than they have in the 25 years the head pro has been there. Rumor has it, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

$80-$90 /gal. for fertilizer? Come over to my place with my budget and you'll do your homework and find what works...cheaper....and you learn a few things. There are always alternatives. It's easy to spend money, not so easy to be frugal. Maybe I'm in the wrong end of the business. I would just need a few of you guys as my accounts and I would be set.

I leave the Astron in all the time, only because I spray Primo every week on greens and those two compliment one another from what my research has shown.

Wondering if anyone has used the Floratine product Thatch Buster.
I have a very old course which until a few years ago never had a fairway aerification
program or topdressing program. I have also done one complete de thatching of the fairways.
The thatch layer is still well over 2inches and during the stress of the summer dries up and doesn't
    allow water thru.

If anyone has used it I would like to know if they had any results and how many apps it took to see anything.

Some formulations may be better than others but nothing replaces sound agronomic practices. To bad they can't put that in a jug.

    John,

I used Thatchbuster on TifEagle greens that had not been aerified in probably 2 years last September in Texas and saw immediate results. We noticed a considerable difference in the firmness of the greens after the application and with the results we saw then, we have incorporated it into our spray program in between aerifications.

    Keith,

I think we do rather well with a $246,000 dollar budget and 4 employees. Completely weed free wall to wall except for the buttonweed. Great greens, true, fast and firm. The only difference in our course and the high dollar clubs is the attention to detail. We really don't have the staff to keep bunkers edged, trees trimmed, irrigation heads edged. Other than the details that I would love to keep up with our course is in great shape. Not bad for using almost a complete line up of floratine.

    John,

Renditions golf club in Maryland has a duplicate of number 17 TPC Sawgrass. The super there was having a lot of trouble growing grass on the walkway up to the green do to some excessive thatch. My guess is the over use of nitrogen trying to keep grass on it. He used a product called I-Mol (Iron molasses) that worked great for him. Not to say it will work for your fairways, just thought I would throw that at ya, maybe it would help.

When your entire Chemical/Fertilization Budget is 40,000 for Tee to Green bentgrass, ryegrass and poa annua, then you learn how to manage your money. I still find room for the floratine cause I have never used anything that works like it. Each Superintendent has his own opinion, of which, no one is completely right or wrong. I'd put my greens up against anybody's. Try managing Penncross/Poa annua greens with 15 potable water meters, 3 honda gas pumps, 1 electric with all manual valves or hand water.

    Keith,

I wouldn't say I'm the man. Just a very hard worker as well as a perfectionist. I like things to look as good as they possibly can with what we have to work with. Also, I can get away with using an almost complete line of Floratine because I only have 65,340sqft of greens.

We still have no idea what your name is, grass type and location. A perfectionist would at least have a signature.

    Kieth,

Sorry, I just figured out how to do the signature. We have Tifdwarf Bermuda Greens, 419 Tees and Fairways, Bahiagrass rough. Prior to the bermuda was 14 years of Bent/Poa.
