    Tim,

A short summary of what happened would be helpful to many others out there.

    Keith,
The bottom line was the advertising by Jacobsen with the eclipse mower, "whisper quiet". The trouble with our town is that they don't have a decibel level, it's no equipment before a certain time, except for our whisper quiet mowers. I will see if I can dig up the specific judgement and other information. This was before my time at the club.

Tommy, Great job setting the example of Superintendents having each others back! We need more like you. Mike

    Tommy,

I believe the key will be how the property is zone and how things are specified in the ordinance. Here we are zoned as open space and operated as a "country club business". In the Deerfield ordinance there is a section of it that states for Agriculture or Business Exemptions. This exemption states that provided the noise being created is necessary for agriculture or the normal operation of business that the ordinance shall not apply to them.
I'm curious to hear how this goes, obviously with being down the road from you. We've never really had an issue until last year as someone moved in right next to the first tee and their wife works odd hours and needs her sleep. When I was at Ivanhoe, Tom and I could have made a pretty comical mixtape of the messages left on the machine regarding "homeowner" complaints. Procedure was, if the message started with "Hi, I live at", delete was hit right then.

    Justin
