We have a significant knotweed problem on our bermuda fairways. What is a safe control of knotweed during bermuda green up?

Dick you might look at MCPP. At higher rates Knotweed is on the label. I used to use MCPP years ago for Clover control in the spring when bermuda was not very strong with no damage. It is also possible that adding 2,4-D may aid control and still be safe on emerging bermuda. For sure avoid anything with Dicamba in it this time of year.

I will use what the dad of one of my former interns (who is now a course owner) said. Someone asked his dad "If retirement was as good as it is cracked up to be"? He said "No, it's better". You seem pretty far north for bermuda. Do you have one of the newer more cold tolerant varieties?

Yes on being "pretty far north" for bermuda. The course is in Emporia, KS, about 75 mi south of Kansas City. Bermuda has made two or three "comebacks" in the KS area over the decades since the 60's. It has never been sustained as the turf of choice, especially as zoysia became more popular, but the newer and more cold tolerant cultivars encouraged some to choose it. We struggle with it on a cyclical basis, winter thinning and outright damage on a periodic basis. I'm experimenting with Zenith zoysia for problem spots or actual conversion.
Thanks for your advice - buying MCPP today and will apply it on Friday.
    Dick
