Hi,  Nobody can figure if this was a liquid or granular burn. Please reply with your observations, back pack or Scotts Accupro.

    Thanks   Michael  Marbella Golf CC

Is this a quiz or are you trying to determine how this damage occurred?

If this is a quiz then my initial response (without additional information) is some type of wand sprayer.

If you are trying to determine how this damage occurred then I would start by determining what type of application and material was made in this area.

Hi Clay,  Not a quiz. The only documented spray was with backpack with iprodione equivalent of Chipco 26 GT or Nufarm 23.3% iprodione at 1.85 oz per 1000 sq ft. The green live areas look like misses to me of a wand application as you say.

A granular was applied to this area and 18 greens, putting green and turf nursery without a single burn area, not one sq inch. I am wondering if it was vandalism, a very good kill.
    Thanks for your input   Michael

Definitely looks like a wand spray application - no right angles to the pattern and too uniform and large for granular app. If this is vandalism then it had to be someone with the knowledge, resources, and vindictiveness to pull it off. Could it possibly have been the applicator unknowingly used the wrong material in the tank or perhaps leftover herbicide in the tank from a previous application? Wouldn't be the first time...

Not granular! Some live areas are too close together for a broadcaster to miss. Another way of determining this is if you have anything in your cabinet of granular that would cause this if applied! Most kills would be strips of dead much like the live left and not the other way around.

i would hate to use the vandalism thought, especially if you think it may be one of your crew.

To be be safe I would have every backpack sprayer cleaned and neutralize. I only have one backpack sprayer to use on my greens and only myself is allowed to use it. I have seen too many issues through crew members not understanding the importance of correct applications, even assistants.
