   Thanks for the screenshot Gordon. I used it to learn how to do the drop down list and then rebuilt a whole sheet. I did like the way you set stuff up on your 'board and hope you do not mind me using it.
   
   What I'd also did was copied my first days board five times in order to make a whol weeks worth. After doing the first days I then used the formatting to link the other four days to the first days in areas where the needed info will be repeated. This cuts down on having to type all the info. After building the first weeks I added 51 more pages and used the drop down menus for the tabs to duplicate each page and then named them by dates. I'm trying to get a screen shot but I'm not having much luck on my iPad. Worst case I will get it done on Monday.

    Here is a pic of the doc that I use for our djb. Didn't screenshot the dropdowns, though I'd be happy to if someone needed it. I have also used the google extension "revolver" and set a second tab in Chrome for my live weather. The revolver extension will rotate tabs every few seconds (user defined) so that you can incorporate a live radar or current conditions screen with your djb. As of now, I do not know of any type of widget that will allow you to have live weather conditions in your djb, though that would be awesome.

    I want to use Revolver with my job board as well but can't seem to find a way, if even possible when utilizing a Chromecast. Seems with this device you can only cast 1 page. Anyone know any different?

    Have shared my Job Board with you.
    I used an ARRAYFORMULA(COUNTIF) for each week to count the number of times a task was performed and then have assigned an average time to that task. This gives me at least a rough idea for hours. Also put in a column for a manual adjustment. Weekly summary is in a pie chart but changeable if you want. Also did a yearly summary which puts hours in a bar graph.

    I think I have added everyone to share the file through google. just make a copy of the file and paste it in your google page. its important that you copy this file because if you just open it and start making changes the original file will have all of the data formats changed also.
    
    I have a small crew so I just sized enough for what I needed plus a few extras.
    Another thing to remember is that you want to work on the original sheet (first) to make any changes. My sheet is set up for five days and weekends. all we do is scroll down for the next day. By placing all of your needs on the very first sheet and first week it will allow you to duplicate things through your whole year just by copy and paste functions.
    
    To add drop down list go to DATA in your task bar, scroll down to see Validation and click this. This opens a screen where you can add your drop down list to. be sure you do not leave a space between your first task the coma and then your next task. you can add as many as you need especially on your employees drop down list.
    
    I want to state that it is important to work on the first day of your DJB to get everything you want done. It is the only way that will keep you from entering or typing on all of your pages. (if anyone knows of another way please let us know.
    
    After getting your first day completed you can copy it and paste it below the first day or in another spreadsheet. This move your important information for you. After you have five days worth you want to go to the second day and click on any line that you would like the info repeated through the rest of the week (tournaments was one for me as well as my Sat and Sun employees. the way to get this info to move for you without typing it all is to click the line you want the info from the first day to repeat and type the equal sign then you can scroll up and click on the line that has the info you want moved (or you can just type the info into the cell *like =b3*) this will connect the first day with the second day. moving all of your info into it. you will need to repeat this on the other three days of the week. Once you have the first line code in and you would like to repeat the rest of the cells below . all you will need to do is copy the cell you typed the equal sign in and past it in the next cell below, the keep pasting it until you are done.
    
    Its actually pretty easy once you get it started. I do caution you to make sure you have thought of everything you want and make sure the first page (1 week) is completed before going down to the page tabs at the bottom. if you right click on that tab you will find a drop down box, click duplicate and it will build you a second page just like the first with all of the cell formats and data already installed.
    
    Sorry this ended up long but it should enable some of you to build your own pages.

    We did the Samsung Smart TV a couple of years ago. While the tv is nice I was not impressed on their web browser and we had numerous issues with it. So we decided to make a change.
    
    We purchased a Dell Inspiron All in One computer. We then mounted it right beside the TV. We connected the 2 with a USB to HDMI adapter and HDMI Cable. I then set up the computer display to "extend". This way we can open a window on the Dell and then take a mouse and move that opened window over to the tv and we can then open up another web page on the Dell.
    
    We have the job board on the tv using a shared Google Drive spreadsheet, we leave the weather up on the computer for staff to see and use. I think it will also be nice because we can still leave the job board up and use the TV to do safety training or what ever. Our crew is very excited about using it.
    
    The Dell connects to the internet wirelessly so no need to have any Cat 5 cables to it. Total costs $500

    Great thread, something we've talked a little about, but our situation with a small crew and only 90 compact acres, we don't see the bang for our buck on something like this yet. Although I could see the advantage if I'm stuck on the sprayer or mower, I could relay information back to the job board, but if something is that urgent, I can always text one of my crew.
    
    I have one question, and being a novice with technology, I have heard/seen the term "Screen Shot" in this thread which some of you guys have taken and posted. My question is, how did you all do that? I'm familiar with the term as it relates to a smart phone, but how do you take a screen shot with a computer? Is it something you can do with the newer computers and platforms like Windows 10 (8) or whatever? Or is it just different terminology for clicking a page as save as and making it a document? Would think "screen shots" could come in real handy when putting together a power point.

    To capture your screen simply hit the"print screen" button on your keyboard ( I always thought the "print screen" button should more appropriately be called "copy screen". Once you've copied the screen, paste it into a photo editor and manipulate and/or save as a jpeg or whatever. Basically it's a copy (print screen) and paste procedure.

    Hello again everyone, its time to start building a new job board for 2017. I'm interested if anyone has some new ideas to expand on for our boards.
    
    I do have one issue with mine I noticed this last year. It with the drop down menu's. I had made the drop downs on my board in order to make filling out some of the task faster but I noticed that the print was too small to see and once built I was pretty much stuck with it for the whole year. As an example, I used drop downs to list all of my workers but during the year I had some leave and never took the time to see if they can be removed from all of my weekly drop downs. I am now thinking that building a main page first that may be connected to all of the rest in order to make changes down the road that will update throughout all of the pages.
    
    One thing I had done is connect the 1st weekend schedule of my daily board to every day of that week so I only have to add the info on the Monday section and it automatically installs it on the rest of the days of the week.

    We use google chromecast and google slides for our job board. Google slides is similar to power point and it can be shared to anyone with a google drive account. Our job board is shared between myself and the assistants and we can access it from our phones or computer and any of us can make changes.     I, too, am looking to jump into the DJB idea. However, I am wondering if anyone is using (or an opinion) an projector instead of a large expensive TV? I'd think the projector could provide a large enough image for viewing. Chromecast should be able to plug into, just as a TV. But wondering if the constant run time would burn it out fast...
    
    So, any thoughts on using a projector vs a large TV?

I've been using a smaller monitor for 4 years now, and while the lure of a wall-sized job board is great, I think the projector would have a short life, and we'd go through bulbs fairly frequently.     That's what I thought too. But in researching projectors, the LCD/LED bulbs run cooler and have a bulb life of 30,000-50,000 hours. For ~$150 I'm OK if it burns out after 10 years. I'm just not sure on the brightness, or clarity of the image.

    I am wary of the "lifespan" of those bulbs. Lifespan for anything like that; led's, cfl's, etc is calculated on "normal use" which would most likely be an hour or two per day at the most. But in our case, it would be on 9+ hours per day, everyday. I think that would shorten the projected lifespan considerably. Even before the bulb would burn out there would be an altered clarity of the projection, blue or yellow spotting, or areas that would lose focus and not due to an adjustment. Even the lowest-end tv is going to outperform a projector, in my opinion.
