    Good morning,

I will be evaluating the trees across the golf course and identify trees, for removal, that are creating turf management issues around key fine turf areas and bunkering.

I'd like to provide my Committee with a visual on the potential impact to the look of each golf hole following the recommended removals. I'm wondering if I could attempt photo shopping. I've never done anything like that, but not afraid to try.

Anyone messed around or effectively used photo shop software for a similar purpose? Any recommendations or tips?

    Thanks

    Dustin

    Dustin,

You might consider using a Golf Course Architect to assist you with the "before/after" photos. This could go a long way with committees or ownership groups. Kevin Atkinson has done a great job in developing renderings for us at Ravenna.

While I have not used Photo shop much I have made great use of Google earth. You would be surprised at how up to date their maps are. You can get the Pro version for free now too. I will allow you to save over head pictures of your golf course and you can zoom in very tight on most everything in the picture. I use it for drawing out drain lines for asbuilts, for building pin placement sheets for tournaments (I import the photo into a paint program so I can draw on the photos), showing areas we may want to plant trees. There is also a planimeter which you can use to give you exact sizes of tee's and greens, ponds and so forth. There are lots of different things you can do once you import the photos.
