We set our units at .125" below the rollers. When chopping up the plugs, we make one pass up the contour of the fairway then come back on the same pass. The second pass really brings up a lot of material and completely destroys what was left of the plug. Then we use a buffalo blower and blow the thatch into the rough being careful not to blow any into the fairway bunkers. This method sure beats using the keystone mat and provides a much cleaner finished product IMO. Lastly, we mow using a designated fairway mower the mechanic doesn't mind getting thrashed.
Hope this helps.
