Unlike your Owner mine is short sighted and unreasonable  . He also gets what he wants. He has been on a sod wall bunker kick for about a year and I can't hold him off any longer. My course is built on 100% sand so clay sod bricks is out of the question. I don't have the staff to perform this project once let alone every two to five years. I have been trying to find information on bunker walls built out of carpet or geotextile. I haven't had any luck. Anybody out there with some information?

I was looking into this subject a few years back, thought it would be a good solution to some of our steeper bunkers where the face is falling apart. As I remember Michael Hurdzan had some put in at widows walk in MA. I think Jeffery Carlson in marthas vinyard was there during construction. I contacted Hurdzan years ago how they were performing but he did not know. You may want to contact that club to see if they still have them or not.

Seems like a great idea but not sure about how it stands the test of time. If I remember they were using earth toned carpets and topdressing and seeding them much like some of the newer driving range mats. I stepped away from the idea since it didn't really match the architecture of our course and not sure of long range issues from doing it.

Dont quote me on any of this I am going off of a very fuzzy memory, Let me know if you find out anything more
