Wanted to know if anyone has used or is currently using Cutless or Legacy as their PGR on bent/poa greens.

What rates, timing and results have you seen? Were your results better or the same compared to Primo alone or other PGR's.

I have been hearing guys that are using Cutless are having better results with growth regulation and overall health on bent/poa greens this summer in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast compared to that of Primo alone.

I have been using Legacy the past two years on amended "push-ups", about 60/40 bent / poa greens (also on tees and fwys). Start out with 6oz/ac in mid spring once mowing daily, next app 21 days later at 7oz/ac, next app 21 days later at 8oz/ac and stay with this rate the remainder of growing season at 21 day intervals. Works well for us and see more bent happening. I like having 2 pgrs in mix with different strengths.

I've been using a primo+ cutless mix on bent greens all summer in the Mid Atlantic. I've been using 2 oz of cutless with 6 oz of primo per acre every 7 days. Usually around the beginning of September the weather will allow me to bump the cutless rate up to 4 oz per acre with 4 oz of primo every 10-14 days. I think our green speeds are more consistent this summer by keeping the cutless in our spray program. Greens are much tighter and any poa I did have on my practice green is almost gone.

I think there are a few people in our area using Legacy or doing Primo and Cutless, they are on 14 day schedules with their fungicide apps too. I don't know their rates.

Dennis, Would you ever consider shortening the interval between sprays from 21 to 14 or even 7 or are you seeing good regulation for the whole 21 days that you wouldn't consider it? The main goal for us is the overall health and not as much as trying to knock back the Poa, but it would be welcomed with open arms if we do.

We have been using Legacy on fairways at the 10 oz/A rate all season but I have been spraying it every 100-200 GDD 0 degree Celsius model. Which has equated to about every week on fairways during the summer months and every two weeks in the spring. The results have been phenomenal. No discoloration, no spikes in growth as the pgr starts to lose effectiveness and great color.

On greens we have been spraying Primo at 7oz/A all season on the same model and seeing nice growth regulation and no discoloration but the overall plant health just hasnt been consistent. Other factors have helped this issue with high percentage of N in the tissue and the wet June we experienced followed by as heat wave in July for a couple weeks. We also battled some etiolation on greens and collars which is our main concern. There was a defined line where the green/approach spray meets the fairway spray and no etiolation at all. I have heard that those using Cutless are not seeing the etiolation and overall health this season has been better then those using Primo alone.

We also had bad etiolation on all collars and even took out some grass on two greens. I cut out all ammonia based N, all biostimulants but kept the Primo even though some say that was causing it. Switched to nitrate based N and it was all gone in a couple weeks. Tuesday I sprayed greens with some ammonium based N, Wednesday morning you could see the etiolation all ready. No where near as bad but still the only thing that changed was the foliar fertilizer.

    Matt,

That's our fertility program also. We do ammonium sulfate up to the middle of June and switch to nitrate based liquid for the summer months. We haven't applied N since July 9th and are still riding on what our granular calcium apps are releasing. With the results we've had on fairways with Legacy and the talk Primo may enhance the etiolation, to me it may help to remove a variable and see what happens. I feel our etiolation was nitrogen induced but still wonder if the Primo enhanced the "perfect storm" this season.
