Today is the opening day to register for the GIS in San Diego & I have always signed up on this day to insure I get the education seminars that fit my needs. What amazed me was the increase in cost from the GCSAA just to attend the show w/o education costs. We all know times are tough in our industry but it seems everything goes up but wages/salaries while budgets are reduced & as managers were forced to cut, cut, cut. Im glad the show is w/I driving distance but I may not be able to attend future shows if this trend continues for it seems the value isnt what it used to be.

    I agree with you...very costly
however, $340.00 a year for a magazine subscription is a bit much too.

Will the GCSAA be offering the 2 and 3 day package specials like they have the past several years? That really made things affordable to those in the financial pinch.

    Regards,

    Henry

    Hi Henry,

Thanks for your inquiry. The short answer is no, GCSAA is no longer offering the packages you mentioned. Here's a more thorough response and explanation from Jana Brown, GCSAA's associate director of conference events and meeting planning.

"To secure low hotel rates, GCSAA is required to guarantee a minimum number of attendees buying the packages. Participation has significantly declined since the packages were first introduced and the minimums required by the hotel are not being met. Due to these factors, GCSAA will no longer offer 2 and 3 night packages for the annual conference and show."

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,
    Darcy

I am trying to find the most affordable day pass for my city manager to join me at the national show. The cheapest they can do is $300 to get my employer into the show. Maybe next year he will tell me it is not affordable anymore....I think we need to do something better for those we are trying to impress.

I guess I was about a day early on my post about Trade show passes. I just got an email this morning about the voucher we can pick up to get a free pass to the Trade show for industry colleagues for Thursday, Feb 7th in the afternoon. Thank you to those who made this happen. "I think this is a wise and prudent move for those that we want to impress".
