I just started at a new course and was lucky they had just purchased a HD200 a few months before I started. We sprayed greens today and overall the sprayer performed great. I am curious how you all have your agitation set up. I had lots of foaming with the mix we used today, pentathalon, propoconazol, and ferrous sulfate. The valve under the strainer is all the way open and the agitation knob is about 1/2 way open. I think I had too much water coming through the top agitator. I did order a different anti-foam brand(that I am familiar with) and this should help some.Closing the valve under the filter should help, but the manual says to keep it all the way open. My other concern is the screen size under the lid. The pentathalon was a little thick seemed not to go through the screen as well as it did in the 1250 sprayer I had used for the past five years. The mesh in the JD screen seems to be pretty tight.

    Thanks for any help.

I have two of these sprayers and have never touched the valves. The valve under the strainer is the reject line. The strainer is self flushing, meaning it won't clog, and shutting the valve will stop the debris from flushing back into the tank.

One of the reasons we purchased this sprayer is the agitation. But yes, if you are spraying wetting agents and such, it can be too much, and defoamer would be required. But, I wouldn't think you'd have a problem with the products you applied.

The purpose of the basket is to catch anything too big for the system. Id' be cautious of removing the basket and just pouring directly into tank. If anything, pour into a bucket with some water, stir, then pour through the basket.

The strainer valve should always remain open until you want to backwash the filter. I keep the agitation knob turned down a little ways from full( about ten wrist-turns). When the tank gets emptied far enough down for me to hear the agitation stream hitting the inside of the tank, I begin to turn off the PTO in between holes. Leaving it on with a small amount in the tank doesn't really agitate your mixture anymore, but it will certainly create a lot of "foamed-up" product. Yes, the agitaor is off for about 90 seconds, but i'm sure that the ramaining product sloshing around inside the tank during transport to the next hole is'nt going to be settling much.
