Just beginning this years bunker renovation and will have TONS of removed sand that I would like to use to topdress tees, approaches and fairways. Located outside Chattanooga, TN. Wondering if anyone has topdressed 419 during the winter months and how that worked out.

    Thanks,

    Paul,

We tried that at my previous club and learned that pea gravel and dirt clods got in the way of the idea. Having 10 guys police our 1A practice tee for rocks before mowing was counter productive. It will work, just make sure the sand coming out is clean or you better be prepared to repair damaged mowers.

Ditto on patrolling for rocks. But, you'll find you might actually see a green up quicker thanks to the crown being slightly insulated. It will take a while to dissipate, so you might want to stockpile until a warm up.

What he said. Unless you want the players to play off of sand fairways for a while. Even a light coat during the winter months will just sit there.
