Redox has just been introduced in our area. Anyone out there using these products on a regular basis? What are your thoughts? There seems to be several attractive products and I was wondering if anyone has a simple mix of these products that works well on bent greens? Please share any ideas. What rates and timing are being used? Thanks for any input.

    Happy New Year!!

If you talk with your Redox sales rep, they normally ask to pull a few soil samples and then will have their agronomist develop a program based on the results. They use both chemical and paste extractions using your irrigation water to help determine both what is in the soil, and also what is in solution. I would look into that. The Redox website also has a few recommendations under the solutions section for various situations.

Redox is a great product line and I have used it the past three years with great results. Definitely get a few paste extracts and soil samples together from the intended target areas so their agronomists can help you design a program that works best for your application and region. One recommendation is due to their powdery nature is to make or purchase a mixing tank. I had a gasoline engine driven mixing tank so we could mix anywhere due to the spread out nature of the property where I used to work. When I moved on I went with an electric pump since we are a compact property and hauling around a tank is not easy to do. The product dissolve well into water and are compatible with any fungicides, insecticides, wetting agents, etc. you may want to use and they are taken up by the roots, so watering afterwards is a good idea, but not necessary due to low burn potential. Cost is very attractive and much cheaper than many others, but the main benefit is the empirical nature of the products and you only put out as much as the plant needs. I have tweaked my bentgrass program and hardly use any granular and choose not to fertigate. We spray greens every other week with Redox and compliment their program with a foliar program in between. I usually mix anything that needs to be applied chemically on the weeks we are spraying Redox and premix a tank ready to go the night before, so as to avoid delays. Once my technician got the hang of the program he was right behind the set up crew and done before lunch covering four acres with a 150 gallons sprayer (2 tanks). We also spray our fairways and tees monthly during the growing season and have seen excellent results. If we are not too busy, we can usually knock out 25 acres in a day using one sprayer. We try to do it on days when we are closed, but sometimes it requires another half day to complete the application. You will like the results and I encourage you use your existing program on an area to compare results. I do not work for Redox, but will continue using their products in the future. They have done a lot of non university research on turf, crops, ornamentals, and trees and they stand behind what they sell.

I've been using Redox and have had great success. It mixes in win my floratine, foltec, and potassium nitrate just fine.

On another note, I'd give a good deal of weight to Tom's post above. He's a pretty straight shooter
