Looking to replace heavy duty reels in JD 3235a. Price difference is about $75 per reel between R&R and OEM. Has anyone had any luck with the aftermarket reels. I have used their greensmower reels before with some issues, all corrected by R&R, but not the fairway reels. Cutting 419 in NC. Any feedback, pros or cons would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Guessing the 8 blade PN:AMT2893 ?

    OEM from JDParts.com $301.41
OEM from greenfarmparts.com $270.71 free shipping and usually a code for anywheres from 5%-10% off

    R&R non-OEM $223.25
    theoempartsstore.com $240.79

I prefer OEM when it comes to reels and most bedknives. With that being said, greenfarmparts.com is what I have done before and everything is OEM + free shipping + discount.

I've shared this with my dealer and have yet to hear from them why another dealer can offer such a deal and they cannot/will not.

    Good luck.

I have used reels from R&R and I now stick to OEM parts when it comes to reels. The set that I had did not hold up as well as OEM, ended up replacing them within a year because of breakage of the reels. I figure the $30 difference in price is well worth the investment. Don't forget you need to figure in the labor costs involved also In the long run the OEM worked out to be cheaper when you figure in the labor costs to switch them out again.

Thanks for the help. I have not heard of greenfarmparts.com, so that will be a big help in the future. I will definitely use them for these reels. Local dealer quoted $313 per reel. Thinking I'll ask them for a price match but they will probably just send me to walmart.

I brought this whole pricing situation to my JD Golf dealer a couple weeks back. An Equipment Manager who happens to be a customer of the same dealer saw my post and brought it to the attention of JD Corporate. Apparently my inquiry/email and this thread produced quite a bit of attention and I received a email from the parts manager today saying that they are working on discounts/specials and free shipping promotions and until they can fully implement these they would match pricing/discounts/shipping that I can currently get through above mentioned website.

I still want to see how this all plays out, but I am very pleased that my dealer apparently has chosen to rethink this and hopefully try to be more innovative and competitive given all the alternatives to traditional parts monopoly most manufacturers think they can adhere to.
