Will charcola deactivate Ronstar? Cancel The title field is required!

   We have put our pre-emergent out on our warm season driving range tees. Due to heavy use right up until the first frost, and poor marker movement, we have one end that is mostly dirt. Now the powers that be want us to seed it with rye, so it will be like our upper "winter" tee. Will charcoal deactivate the Ronstar?

   Brandt 52 pickup is a liquid sprayable form of activated charcoal and is much easier to apply than spreading dry activated charcoal. I had a spout break on a Vicon spreader once and went half way down the fairway spreading preemergence before noticing it was leaving all the product in a one foot band.
   
   We pickup up as much preemergnce as possible with a Shop Vac and sprayed the 52 pickup. The preemergence never killed one blade of grass. I always keep 5 gallons on the shelf for emergencies.

   My experiences show that charcoal will decrease the pre-emergent activity, but won't eliminate it. I would couple the charcoal with an aggressive aerification, to the point of almost tilling the soil.

   I've had a recent experience with Ronstar and charcoal. Couldn't get the seed to come up until after the charcoal went down. Had great results.

   I used D-Tox flowable. I was a pain in the ass to get mixed up, but work great when I got it on the ground.
