I don't think we are quite ready to jump into those nice fangled weather stations I saw at the show, but would like to update our wind meter. Which ones might you all recommend? I don't need the big fancy ones, but was looking at the Kestrel 1000, Skywatch Xplorer 1, Windmate 100, or that old stand-by Dwyer?

Also looking to add a Hygrometer, my question is should I put it inside my Thermometer shelter with my thermometer?

    Thanks!

All in one. Works great too. Had mine for a few years now. Just as accurate as my other two. For a few hundred more you can have your site feed live to http://www.weatherunderground.com.

I also have a Kestrel 1000 that we use when spraying. It works great and is very reliable. I think I've changed the batteries maybe once in 5 years.

We have the Kestrel 3000 that I bought about 6 years ago from Gemplers and it still works great. It does everything we need and runs about $160.00 from Gemplers. You may find it cheaper somewhere else, but the Kestrel brand has been great. We thought about one of those high end systems mounted to our shop, but I went this route because I carry it with me when I am out spraying also.

Ditto for the Kestrels. Had three of them...nice to take with you when handwatering as well. Very pleased with the brand.

Thanks guys, my next question is, do you purchase the one that has the humidity built in? Do you use them for calculating dew point? Or just wind readings?

    Thanks!

Kestrel 3000 here as well, keep it in my cart all summer. It has the humidity sensor and shows the dew point as well. I tend to focus more on the dew point than the temp when it comes heavy disease pressure and hand watering time.

I purchased this unit myself so it comes with me where ever I may go in the future. I also have an infrared thermometer I carry in my cart to check canopy temps.
