I will be redoing a green surround/ bunkers next spring. I have been asked to recontour the back half of the green as well. It pitches at 4 to 5% slope. It's an old push up poa green that has been amended for decades, so I have more than a foot of sand for a root zone. My plan is to strip the sod, scrape of root zone material and reserve, regrade surround and green surface and replace the existing root zone. Does anyone have experience doing this? Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.
My green Committee thinks this'll be easy!

I'd say it shouldn't be anything you can't do. I would want to see a photo though, as I'd want to know how everything is going to tie-in.

Don't do anything by eye. Lay out a a grid on ten foot centers and shoot cut and fill stakes. Get the % slope approved by the committee before re-sodding.
