I have rye/poa fairways in NJ. I mow at .550". I am thinking of converting to a straight rye stand. Not for any other reason than interest and excitement! I have been thinking of using Xonerate. I am planning on spraying 2 apps 21 days apart at 3oz/acre in late August. Making the hole cart path only the day I spray. Probably apply fertilizer prior to application to help keep the rye healthy. That should take me to late September. I will then aerify broadcast rye and drag it all in. Then follow up with a slice seed of rye. What do you guys think?

If anybody has experience with this please chime in. I'm all ears.

I also hear of guys mixing 1oz/acre of Xonerate with 3oz/acre of Tenacity, 3 apps 14 days apart.

Why not just use Prograss? It works well for what you are trying to do.

Is it silly to say I'm not familiar with prograss? I know it's been around a long time. But if prograss does the same thing then why come out with Xonerate?

Xonerate won't kill Bermuda. Prograss will. Xonerate is great for guys that overseed bermuda with Rye that want to clean up Poa. I know some guys that spray Prograss on their overseeded fairways, but that's a risk most aren't willing to take. Hence the need for a product like Xonerate.

Prograss is also used in Florida to remove Bermuda from St. Augustine. Good product.

Velocity is an option also. Ryegrass is not touched by Velocity.

Be careful of the heat (air temperature) when spraying Xenorate.
