Our topdresser is basically brand new. I am having issues getting our fne greens topdressing sand applied uniformly. I have made major improvements by adjusting the spinner chute location but we still can't get the same amount out of the middle as there is on the outsides. This is only an issue when going very light with fine sand.

    Hi Dru,

We had a similar issue on our Propass, we were told to alter the paddle angle on the spinning disks. After trying different angles we found the right one. Certainly helps us and may be a idea.

I have done the same to this point. Toro is sending someone out to have a look next week. Our your paddles all the way one way or the other? Or are they set slightly out from being bottomed out?

    Dru,

I had the same issue with my new Turfco. The manual says the paddles should be all the way to one side or the other, depending on the quantity your trying to spread, but I adjusted them to the middle and dialed the distribution in perfectly. I think it was because the sand had some moisture in it so the paddles needed to be set more towards the "heavyspread" location.

If the Pro Pass is like the Dakota, they should offer a setting/spread pattern chart that will help you zero in on the type pattern your after. We have had to do this with our Dakota. It is possible to look up the dakota chart online and use that as a guide to help you out.

    Regards,

    Regards,

The funny thing is, the stickers on the machine indicate settings that achieve the opposite outcome. That was the first confusing thing to figure out. I am going to adjust the paddles slightly next time out and see what we get.

We don't even get into the bluer settings on ours. Only set up the other way. When everything is on the correct color, it spreads fine. When they aren't lined up, we get the streak in the middle. Only set the paddles once when it was new. Haven't touched it since. If we want to go lighter, we speed up the workman.

The color coding when set, actually does the opposite in terms of swath width. Our goal is to dust the green with as few passes as possible which means a wider swath is needed. Speed is not our issue. I will be making another app this coming week and I will try moving the paddles around again then.

    Thanks

Do you have the wireless controller? What's your floor speed and rotor speed? Are you using dry sand? We don't and I have to mess with it almost every time out to get it dialed in - seems like even slight flucuations in moisture content of the sand can mess up the distribution/uniformity of the throw.
