They will last a lot longer than previous set ups. We put our first triplex into service in June of 2008 and first changed bearings and seals in November of 2011. We had 1542 hours on the machine. At the time, the grease still looked new, I'm not sure how the bearings were doing at the time.

It was longer than I wanted them to go, but I don't have as much say in that as I would like.

Since we switched to a computer tracking work order system, I'm not 100% sure of when we changed them again, the machine has 4200 hours on it, and we switched our 11 bladed reels out and installed 8 bladed reels. I know we didn't change bearings then, but we didn't go as long, maybe two years instead of three.

Our newer Toro just went over 1200 hours, and we put it into service in 2014, and I don't think we have changed those bearings out yet.

Back in the old days, we changed bearings and seals every winter. We couldn't afford to have a machine go down, and our grinder at that course, had to have the reel out of the frame anyway.
