Has anyone used the Andersons 10-3-10 w/.164 Dimension for summer weed control? I am in Oklahoma and was wanting to switch pre-emergent for my greens, and hope for better goose control.

I have used that product at a previous course with great results for the crabgrass. Didn't have much of a goose grass problem. We did the spilt app of 10-3-10 with dimension first then came back with the 0-0-20 with dimension for the second app as we didn't need the N.

Lots of guys in NC use the Anderson's Goose and Crab on bentgrass greens. I think it is a combo of Ronstar and Bensulide. Works pretty good, but overlaps will suffer in the summer heat. I know there have been "suspected" issues with Dimension on bent around here in recent years. Either way, be careful! Good Luck.

We make split our applications 6-weeks apart and use the 0-0-20 w/.164% also, have done this at least the last 3 years and has worked great for us.

One of our other city courses will use the 10-3-10 but it only has .103% dimension, and they make 3 applications, I think 3 weeks apart. Our one vendor gets a special batch of the .103% made up and many of his customers in our area of SW MO use it. I have heard no complaints. We didn't switch to it, as the overall cost per acre with the labor was just a little bit more and the 0-0-20 was working for us. We were getting plenty of N down when we had fertilized around our aeration.

I will be using the "Anderson's"9-0-18 w/.164% Dithiopyr this season. As with all "Bentgrass" pre-emergent herbicides, always some risk. I will do the split application. I do have more of Crabgrass issues than I have with Goosegrass. I did ask my rep about certain Bentgrass varieties that it's not labeled for forst. I have Penncross on the front 9 and Seaside on the back 9. The Seaside variety is not labeled for this product. I have spoke with several Super's that have used this product on Seaside with No adverse effects. However it can stunt back and retard the growth of poa annua. My decision to try this product was a (more open window) to apply it since it does have pre and post emergent properties. I'm in the top of the panhandle of Tx, and this time of the year, Spring transition here is like Menopause....We were 80 degrees for a high Wednesday with possible freezing rain and snow for Thursday thru Saturday. I aerate greens 2nd wk in April because my Greens go dormant here and I'm NOT at the mercy of the powers at be to do it before it should be done. This will give more of an edge on the crab since when I do aerify and soil temps are in the TANT  area for germination,I can still get it before and or it hits the 3 leaf stage.

we have been spraying Bensumec LF for the last few years, we spray 9oz in the spring and 9oz in the fall. We were seeing some ill effects from using the dimension.

We are in Tennessee, A-1 bent greens. we saw some thinning of turf, and felt like we had some root die back.

Yea,,,Think I need to look at the mode of action of "Dithiopyr". I know that "Oxidiazon and Bensulide" can cause root pruning also. I've heard the pro's and con's on Dithiopyr also and find that if the turfgrass is healthy, adverse effects are minimal to none. I compare these applications to Chemotherapy. It does shock the turf and depending on soil temps, and air temps, are all relative. I plan on making my first split application next wk. First wk in April, I will bring them out of dormancy with some sprayable ammoniacal fert@ 1/10th lb/m. The methylene's just don't do it. I try and push my greens before and after aerification so I can get the healing in. I'll do my 2nd application middle of May after I've healed in. Thats kind of touchy though. Last year was a slow transition to spring. We also deep drill here...no fill though. We do all the sanding ourselves. I have a 4 man crew until the season really hits, so it's better for us time wise to contract. Once my greens are healed in and err thangs looking ok growth wise...I choke way down on the fert type and amounts. I keep them colored and use micro's for the rest of the season. I see my greens everyday so It's easy to see if they need food. If I've had a rain or something that might have leached nutrient's. Sorry for going on and such. I just really like this stuff :D
