I have lots of patches of very dense, dark green bent on my penncross greens that got through this summer with out any stress at all. I thought I read about a lab of some sort that will ID bent, maybe even by DNA analysis. Anybody know where this might be?

I think Ohio State or maybe Michigan State? I remember a golf course in Indiana that was seeding 6 varities of bent grass, and that was what they were going to send plugs off so the could possibly id the percentages of the different bents and see which one was doing the best. I thought they were going the DNA route but I'm not sure.

We built a new course 2 years ago and seeded the greens with a mix of alpha and T1. There are 3 greens that have the same thing, patches of dark green very healthy grass. These three greens were built in consecutive order so my thoughts were it has something to do with the greens mix that was put in them instead of a different variety of bent.

I have A4 Bentgrass greens and have noticed the same thing on almost all of my greens. I have noticed too with my moisture meter that those spots are consistently at a higher percentage of moisture. Leaving me to agree with Kyle that it is probably something in the profile. Would be interesting though to see if it is a different variety.
