Just curious as to how many Superintendents have dogs on their property to control geese?

A Rot/Lab mix, one Vizla and 2 Jacks.......they do one hell of a job keeping golfers in line.

    Gracie still holding up OK?
Qallut just turned 8 and is starting to show a few signs of age
When she turned 7 I started to do the math and realized that she was halfway through her life so I went out and got a new pup Doodle named Assante
He is known by most as the OverLappDog
He's a pain in the backside but he has knocked several years off of Qallut from an energy point of view

THAT'S my Gracie! Easy Steve. I don't mean that in a possessive way. I should have said, "THAT'S my girlfriend!"

Actually, she shouldn't be in this "Dog" thread. She's not a dog....she's human. Trust me. She and I went on vacation together and we talked the whole time. Gracie knows really big words, so I had to keep my dictionary handy. She's amazing! And so is Larry's "doodle"! I just love that breed...........even though I've only owned Golden's. Regardless, it's fun to talk with dogs. I "know" they understand every word I'm saying. Cats are deaf.

Jeff: I couldn't find the picture of you two at the Dinosaur. Do you have it and would you post it? It's a great shot.

PAle: She gets a little limpy after a big day at the course. Has to take her time going up stairs usually. She's on some arthritis stuff, got some fatty tumors going -- her 'lovely lady bumps' we call them, but overall she's healthy and still game. We're thinking if we get another 5 years we're lucky. She's been the best dog either Janet or I have ever owned.

Yup. I was kneeling on them. Let me get copies made and I'll mail the originals back to you. One of these look like a safe deposit key. Any chance I could get the address of your bank?

Sure, I know we rented a safe deposit box about 6 months ago, I still don't think we have put anything in it yet.

Maybe that's where I'll put those keys when I get them back.

My two Jacks are 11 and 8 now......so far no signs of slowing down though the grey is showing big time on Divot's muzzle now. He tore an ACL two years ago chasing squirrels and $1400 later he is good as new. Other than the knot on his hind leg where the sugery was done you'd never know it had happened. Like the 6 million dollar man.......we can make him better, faster, stronger. His little sister Ping is very jealous.

I am fortunate or unfortunate to have had numerous fox on my course. For the last few years at least 10 kits are born. They spend the mornings and evenings playing around just off the tee boxes on a few holes. We haven't had any problems with them so far, but they are always inches away from extermination. My crew and members are used to them and ignore them, unless they steal your ball. Since we are semi-private our paying guest are blown away how tame they are and fun to watch. It is also funny when you are talking to the fox and people think you have them trained. One morning I saw one sneaking up on some geese and right when I yelled get em, it leaped into the pond. People actually thought I taught it that. We haven't had any mole problems since they arrived, before we would trap 25 a year. As soon as the kits are big enough they move off to torment the area farmers, what they do about them is up to them they are no longer my problem.
I know many people would question the idea, but when you watch 4 or 5 kits the size of a softball tumbling and wrestling with each other, it is almost like they are putting on a show for you. You just have to laugh and smile.
