Years ago I remember hearing a pretty good program for reducing torpedo grass that was recommended by one of the professors from UF, it included several repeat applications of Drive at split rates on a 5-7 day cycle as I recall...sadly I've forgotten the rates and timing since I haven't had the need for the program in the past 10 years...anyone out there have a good safe program?

Its in my collars, green complexes and bunker faces mostly.
    Thanks

Packet of monument, 7-8 oz of Q4 plus, splash of MSO in 15 gallons H2O. I back off the Q4, it can tinge you up pretty good, when it gets hot and replace with Celscius (1.34). Plus the Celscius seems to work better on the buttonweed that shows up around June than the Q4. May need to hit the torpedograss again especially with the second mix.

    How thick is the Torpedo?

If you do not have much turf mixed into it you may want to just kill the whole spot out.

In my research when I was with the University of Florida, Drive herbicide removed torpedograss about 50% per year. Drive temporarily defoliated the torpedograss (as did Revolver) but the torpedograss came back. By splitting the annual Drive allocation into multiple small applications, say, 3 applications at 1/3 rate, 30 days apart, the longest defoliation possible was achieved, hence apparent starvation. Here is a link to the abstract; write me for the full paper: http://philbusey.com/refs/ref050.html

It takes about 3 years of successive treatments in the same areas to achieve reasonably good success.

A pound of Drive/acre and 25 grams of Monument/Acre, multiple apps. Good luck!
