Spiker Attachments for Tri Plexes Cancel The title field is required!

   Has anyone out there used the Spiker Attachments from Toro for the tri plexes? If so do they work well? What kind of depth are you getting? Any mechanical damage? I am currently using a pull behind spiker from tractor supply. Not really getting deep but penetrating thatch lay to help channel water. Would like to be able to get a little deeper for what might be an exciting summer. Thanks

   We have the 3100 toro spikers and they perform just fine. There are 2 different depth settings and we use the deepest one. Be extra careful to drive straight as they will tuft the turf pretty good if you turn much. Also watch out for any undulation that might cause the side weights to drag the turf. This will leave a pretty good mark.

   I have had both triplex spikers for Jake and Toro and while they do work I would not use them if I could get another pull behind type. Here is my reasoning; triplex spikers do not go very deep to start will but they are positioned in front of the tires which means the weight of the machine will help seal the holes you just created. first it opens and softens them up and then it smashes them closed.
   
   A pull behind unit does not have this effect. They make them for sand pros and also to pull behind cushmans and would be easier to hook up.

   I'm the oddball who does not spike his greens. I would rather vent them with solid tines monthly. Then again, if I were managing bent in the transition zone I may re-think that.

   We have a set for a Jake Greens King IV. They work well. Need to be careful when you set them down. If the operator is not paying attention and the spikers are not square they could gouge the green. I have experience with the sandpro type and they are the best. You have to be careful with this type as well because the sandpro tires can spin on the green if the operator slams down on the forward peddle to hard while sitting the spider down. Good luck, keep fogging the water to them. 98 with 30% humidity at my place the last six days. Having fun in the transition zone!
