    Hello all,

Looking for some input on a strange phenomenon that is occurring at my course. We have a eagle 700 on a tee, at the highest point of our course that comes on randomly on its own if we run anything else separately. It is supposed to come on with another head located close but only this one will come on so we have ruled out signal issues. I have replaced all of the selector components, and have even put in a completely new head. It will be ok for a couple days and then start acting up again. I am at the end of my knowledge, and patience on the issue and hope somebody has had a similar issue and can tell me what is going on here. Never had the issue until this year by the way.

If nobody knows I'm looking into calling ghost hunters

    Thanks,

    Eric,

I have had a similar experience with a LTC+ satellite. You may want to check your on/off/auto toggle switch. We had a head do something similar to what you describe and we had a switch that was slightly between the auto and on position. So I believe when we supplied power to the board to run a different head, it would also send power to that one. Otherwise maybe a split wire somewhere, but if it only turns on when you are turning something else on, I believe it is getting power some how. I know that does not explain why the other head on the same number doesn't turn on at the same time, so maybe try to separate those heads and make sure they work individually. Hopefully something works for you...Good Luck!

    Sincerely,

This situation was not on Rain Bird but I had a problem with one of my Toro VP controllers where no matter what station I tried to turn on only one specific station would actually come on, even if I didn't try to turn it on. It turned out that one of my 16 station on/off/auto boards was shorting out my entire box and only turning that one specific head on no matter what. That head wasn't even on the bad 16 station board.

Looks like an air relief valve issue.

In the clock switch wires with a station close and see if the problem moves, if it does could be a bad clock, if not I go with the air relieve valve idea.

    Thanks everyone,
I'm leaning towards the air relief because we can actually disconnect the solenoid and the issue still occurs. Thanks for the help.

Someone care to elaborate on air relief valve problem, I don't follow. Since highest point on property, could be drop in pressure when other stations activated? What pressure are you running the system, elevation from pumps to this location, and pressure set for pilot valve?

I had a similar occurrence this week with 4-5 random heads turning on in my driving range when I was turning on other heads from a different satellite controller. My Rainbird rep had me check the ribbons going from my clock to the station switches on my driving range satellite. One of my ribbons was slightly pinched so I replaced it and have had no other issues.
