Hard to kill goose on 419 fways.... Cancel The title field is required!

   We are having some really hard time killing goose on our 419 fways.....was wondering if anyone has any ideas other than the expensive revolver. Right now we are using a celsius, katana , Q-4 mix which is doing very little to it.
   We are in central florida and our fways are 419 hoc. .500.

   Have you tried Illoxan? But, if the plant is past two to three tillers it will be hard to kill. It seems me that the tank mix that you are spraying would be about the same cost per thousand than just spraying straight revovler. You could go with a slightly higher rate of Illoxan if the plant is mature.

   Try Sencor/MSMA or Dismiss will knock back the goose. We have been using Revolver/Celsius for Goose/Crab along with the Sencor. The key is preemergent to stop it from coming back as you can add Barricade or something to your spot spray.
   
   This tool below from Par Aide works great on medium to large goose grass. It will spin most of the root out especially in good soils that are moist. Will leave a 2 " hole that we filled with a sand/compost mix. But the real key is sprinkling Ronstar G on top to stop it from returning. You can clean up an area real fast as one summer a single high school student went through the course and made a BIG difference without chemicals or burning the turf.

   One tip if you buy tool. Go to hardware store and buy grade 8 replacement bolts and cut off the heads. The ones supplied are too long and weak and will bend easily in rocky soil. About 2-2.5" long is perfect.

   I second Dismiss/MSMA/Sencor....I use that in my 10 gallon tank. Smokes it. Dismiss South @ .367oz/tank, MSMA @ 6oz/tank and Sencor at .10oz/tank. Add some sticker and good to go. Don't get overzealous though....the stuff burns pretty good if you overdo it. But, this mix is good for all weeds, so have at it!
   
   If you go the Illoxan route and overseed, remember there is a 60 day window between your final app and dropping seed.

   1st Application
   MSMA 44 oz per acre
   Sencor 5 oz per acre
   Speedzone 32 oz per acre
   Surfactant 16 oz acre
   Color
   2nd Application – 7 to 10 days After
   MSMA 32 oz per acre
   Sencor 4 oz per acre
   Ferromec 1 gal per acre
   Surfactant 16 oz acre
   
   Did this twice a year with 2-3 apps of Andersons 22-0-10 with Ronstar and it will help clean you up. Polyon Fertlizer in between to keep turf growing.

   Since MSMA is illegal to use in Florida anymore, ixnay on the MSMAnay.

    Last update I got was you could use up the product you had on the shelf until the end of this year, or was it next? Then I heard use it until gone. Everything has changed 10x. Haven't gotten a definite answer from anybody on this. If you have some literature that guides me in the right direction, by all means, send my way.
    
    Also saw that they were trying to relabel it to bring it back for hard to control weeds like Tropical Signalgrass, etc...

    I must say I am having a terrible time with tropical signal grass. Celsius is not even yellowing the tips. I am quite certain my ID is correct. The Celsius took out everything in two applications except the signal grass.

    Hawaii may be different than Florida but I think it depends on which label you have on your MSMA jug and when purchased. The label we have on the shelf says only ONE broadcast spray on newly constructed courses. Anything else is limited to 25% of acreage as spot treatment. Use until December 2013.

    I am not sure where you are located in Florida and if far enough south it may not yet be a concern but be very careful with MSMA and Sencor tank mixes after Labor Day............if you spray at a rate to really smoke the goose you may also do some damage to the bermuda that it might not fully recover from this time of year. In the I-10 corridor............caution is the word. Not knowning your location you may be ok.......those guys in central and south Florida can give you better advice on timing. But after spraying both for over 35 yrs, you can do damage to bermuda as it's trying to harden off for the upcoming winter months.
