I recently received approval for sand bins, my question is what do you all have for bins, concrete floors with wood sides, poured concrete, stacked block, what? What dimensions are your bins? I have limited space and would like 4 bins. They will not be covered with a roof system, rather a roll back tarp system like that found on dump trucks.
    Thanks!

Follow this link, something to think about before finalizing your plans:

Perhaps the slickest system I have ever seen.

    Good Luck, Mike

    Curtis,

A few years back we built two bins that shared a middle wall. The large side is 20' x 24' and will hold about four full loads of topdressing. The smaller bin is 12' x 24' and will hold two loads of divot mix. These were built using a 10" slab full rebarred with vertical rebar for the wall every 5'. The wall is block, with horizontal rebar every two rows. The wall is 7 rows high and poured solid. We had a test last week when our sand delivery guy back into the wall. The upper row had a few blocks knocked lose with some good cracking, but the wall stayed upright and is still solid. My only wish now is that I had built more than two bins. It seems we are always needing somewhere to put a load of gravel or bunker sand. Except the pad, we built these in-house for under $2,500.

Last year, I had our concrete company come build me another one at our other shop. This one is 20' x 20' on a 10" slab and similar rebar setup. Except this bin had the walls poured 10" solid , 4' high, instead of blocked. This bin cost me slightly more, but was a steal at $3,400.

We used Jersey barriers to build ours. I think we payed around $50 per barrier and they are 6'x3'. Did our whole bin for around $500. We used a spray foam to fill any gaps in the corners, and set them up on a preexisting concrete pad. They are very heavy and we had to use a skid steer to unload them. Luckily we are only 10 minutes away from a concrete plant, and had a trailer big enough to haul out two at a time.
