Does anybody have an idea on the year and model of this Worthington Tractor, and have any good ideas on how I might locate someone that wants it way more than I do? I imagine there might be someone out there that would like to restore this beast?[attachment=0">DSCN2938.JPG[/attachment">

That would be so cool to restore that. Too bad I have no skills, money or room, would love to see it restored.

That would make quite a beer wagon for the Seven Rivers Association. You could race the Pro Plus Tractor.

Right now I use it to store junk on. I'm not sure I can find a shelf that'll store that much junk for $100  :D

I used to drive one of those night watering but I think ours had duallies on the back. 5th gear, full balls out, the thing could go over 50. I know that from time trials on McVean Drive at 2am in the morning.
I think David Brandenberg (sp) just restored one

Ummmm. I suppose if I went with less extravagent shelving it could work. Might be a long drive to get the machine to Florida though, I'm in Northern Minnesota. (Sub-artic on your turf temperature zone maps)

    Norma,

Your Jacobsen dealer may be able to give you an age or one of the older superintendetns in your area. We have a 1972 Jacobsen G-10 we recently re-painted and it still works great. This looks more like a D-10 the D standing for the dump box.

Is there a model number on it?

David, I met a Jacobson Territory rep a few weeks ago who spoke very highly of your Worthington restoration. I can't remember his name off hand

Thanks Larry, It did turn out well but ours is only a 72 so by then it had the Jacobsen Name but basically the same tractor with a flat hood. It gets a lot of use and is durable with it's Ford parts.

For $426, and a 14 hour drive Norma's old 1956 Worthington has a new home. We were high sealed bid at City of Silver Bay surplus sale.

It was made by Jacobsen but still has the Worthington name on it. We are going to spruce it up and make it into a sevice vehicle with airtank, winch, Generator tools, bench vice etc for taking out to repair equipment on the course or tow it in. Still considering if we are going to put a tow arm on the back becuase we rarely pick things up.

    Something to do over winter.

What a bargain, can't wait to see it finished.

I think you should put a beer cooler on it as well, make those Florida boys jealous.

Back in about 1979 I did one of the stupidest things I've ever done on a golf course. I was too lazy to get up on the G-10 to start it up on that cold morning. So, standing next to it, on the left side as pictured in David's photo, I leaned over and turned the key to start it. The darn thing was in 1st gear, not neutral, so when I turned the key the thing crept forward and parked itself on me. It put me to the ground with my right foot under the left rear tires. No broken bones, luckily, but I was screaming for help for about twenty minutes until some other greenskeeper finally drove back into the shop, probably because he forgot to bring his coffee with him.

Other than that it was a great tractor. I think they still have it at the golf course.

Due to the late spring here in the Badger state we are halfway though our refurbishment of the Worthington Tractor we bought from Norma. We got it running easy enough and then took it apart for painting.

In my internet research on the subject I did find out the tractor is from the 60's and made in Racine based on its serial number. I also found a awesome book called Worthington Golf Course Tractors written by Harley Collins of Bath PA in 2011. At 550 pages it is a incredible reference on the History of Worthington, their gang mower and tractors. If nothing else the pictures are fun for any antique tractor buff.

If anyone is interested the book is $50 plus 7.50 shipping and handling. You can reach Harley at 2540 Fox Road, Bath, PA 18014 or hledcollins@verizon.net . I am pretty sure Harley is 90+ years old and an incredible resource.

What I need to find now is someone who wrote a book on the Jacobsen Tractors after they moved Worthington to Racine. I am tempted but my wife would kill me if I put one more thing on my plate.
