Good afternoon. Seeking information from industry professionals that have converted from Paspalum putting surfaces to Bermuda putting surfaces. Looking for main reasons you converted, methodology, results and are you/can you, be successful in keeping the Paspalum out of the new surfaces? Thanks in advance for the replies.

    Regards

    Dennis:

When I see a question like this I wonder why would someone want to convert? Paspalum makes a great putting surface especially the newest cultivars such as platinum. It is tricky to keep "fast" in environments with high heat/moisture because the plant is succulent. Furthermore , if the site is affected by salt, I try to find other means to resolve.
Looking at this newest zoysia L1-F on a green surface recently would certainly be of interest if the marching orders were to convert.

    Hi Dennis,

I would be intrerested to know why one would want to go from paspalum to bermuda, I've heard of numerous conversions the other way.

For member satisfaction and tournament improvements. Members want/demand and TOUR players want firmer and faster conditions on a year round basis. Paspalum will not provide those year round conditions.

    Dennis,

Could you please elaborate on that?

I assume that you're talking about sites without salt issues.

In what region and what season is it that ultra-dwarfs out-perform paspalum greens?

    Hello,

My initial thoughts were a comparison of overseeding and transition in a particular zone.

    Un saludo Michael
