The past few years we have seen an increase in Canada Geese sticking around the course this time of year. I'm just wondering what some of you are using to get rid of them (besides a shotgun)! I've heard good things about the spartan 300MW laser sold by dragon lasers ($270.00) Anyone using something different that works for them? Thanks!!

Our trusty bird dog can usually chase them out of the water. However, we have since resorted to RC boats to chase them off. It may look pretty peculiar to golfers/homeowners but the combination of the engine noise and a white torpedo barreling toward them at a high speed is an effective deterrent. It is also.... pretty fun.

    Cody,

We have used a GREEN laser for the last few of years. It works extremely well with some restrictions. You can bounce it off the water into neighboring houses (bad). If you hit an airplane with it (Very Very Bad). You must use it in the dark hours (Early or late). These things also eat batteries and do not work in cold temperatures.

Needs to be single beam and not a diffused 'stargazer'. Should be at least 5+Mw. less than that and you won't be happy with the results.

It does not seem to bother any other animals like rabbits, squirrels, other birds just geese. Here is a link to a video post from one of my crew guys using it for the first time. It is much darker outside than the video appears but that is the video phone light compensation.

The (video) is on a par three about 200 yards. It seems to need to be 532nm wavelength and higher Mw for the distance. I have used it to get the attention of my crew to call me on the radio at 500 yds.

I paid about $15.00 for mine several years ago... here is a link to a current price if you want to try it first before you sink a couple of hundred dollars.

or...Just do a Google search for 532nm green laser

Good Luck, and have fun chasing.

    Mark,

That's a great video endorsement. Do you chase the neighbor kids off your lawn with that thing too? ;)
