golf priviledges for employees Cancel The title field is required!

   Hey all:
   Going through a debate with people over what golfing privileges should be at our course. I'v always worked at courses where its free, but is this a sheltered viewpoint? Obviously, no two courses situations are the same, so im not trying to over generalize this, but I just want to get a feel of what others are doing?

   Golf is free if working more than 30 hours/week. 50% off if under 30 hours worked. I don't agree with policy but abide by it.

   Free, can golf when available M-Th, After 2pm on Friday-Sun
   
   Proshop is not very strict on those rules however. We use that as a benefit for retired guys that mow for us, we pay minimum wage to them and they get lots of free golf. Makes it worth it for them!!

   Free to all employees no matter how many hours a week you work. Golf is available anytime of day. No restrictions as long as it is on your own time.

   I think golfing employees are an asset to the course. Instill in them the benefits of playing golf from a customers point of view. They will start to understand the playing conditions better and possibly give input to the head superintendent if they see a problem on the course. Also the health benefits from playing, hopefully walking the course.

   We allow it for free as long as it doesn't displace paying customers. Our "Crown Jewel" course is a little more limited.
   
   When I worked for a county course in NJ, we received 6 passes per month. I would get passes that said for me or guest, so I could give them to an employee that brought a friend, or a customer who had someone visiting to save them the $45 greens fee compared to the resident rate. We used a bag tag system and we had to have something to show who used the bag tag.

    Had an older employee who thought he should be able to play 18 holes of golf in under 2 hours. He was a scratch golfer but would drive wherever he wanted, did not listen to the marshals, and jumped all over the place if he was slowed down by other golfers...basically thinking because he was maintenance he could do all these things. Almost changed the policy for my department for the next year but did not have to as he did not return.

    Free Monday to Thursday, after 2:30. Only 4 staff from each department can golf per day. Phone pro shop to be sure if tee times are available

    2 Muni courses, driving range, 3 hole practice facility.
    
    Free to all working whatever hours per week.
    standby only - no tee times.

    How busy your facility is will dictate how much availability you can offer. In my case if i did not have free golf to offer i would have trouble filling spots on the crew each summer. Since we were required to reduce our seasonal staffs hours to below 30 to avoid having to pay for health insurance free golf is a significant benefit.
