I was asked by the club manager if he could cover the putting green with a tent and temporary floor for a weekend event next June. The green is 500 sq. meters and would be covered for 5 days. I told him that the turf would be yellow and that the green would have to be closed after the tent was removed but I did not know if the turf would die or not.

A couple of things come to mind. The respiration of the plant might be quite high with the higher temperatures of summer causing the plant to starve. There would be little evapotranspiration so the lack of irrigation might not be a big concern.

The bottom line is that I have no idea how long a putting green will live in this scenario, so if anyone has any information it would be very welcome.
    Thanks

While preparing for several PGA Events, we had to set up tents and stands over finely maintained turf. The day before covering the turf, we'd spray a fungicide and a higher than normal rate of primo. We would also try to vent the turf several days before to allow the turf to breath better while covered.
We had very little issues with recovery. Hope this helps.
