    Happy New Year Folks!

I have some new board members who would like me to try having the staff fill out a time management card. Im not against it as I feel it will only validate what I've been saying. I think it is a lot of extra work to put on our already stretched schedules, but sometimes you have to go about things the long way to prove 2+2=4 before anyone believes you.

With that being said, does anyone have any thoughts positive or negative on the subject. I have a few sample forms, but can anyone recommend one?

    Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

If you (or your assistants) assign jobs the individuals doing the work do not need to fill anything out. I did it for years with the same result. We were always well short of the people-hours needed to get EVERYTHING done. I worked as an apprentice at a club that provided every hour, contractor and piece of equipment necessary to do EVERYTHING. It was not any easier than a monetarily challenged club, but the complaints were much more interesting!

    David,

Darrin Batisky has some of the outstanding information on the time management sheet concept and consequently is presenting a seminar at GIS next month on the topic. Perhaps find a way to get down to Pittsburgh and meet up with him this winter.

Here is a link to his Power Point from last year's conference and also to his article in the Green Section Record.

On a personal note, I interned at a course that used a time management system and it honestly took no more than 2 minutes at the end of each day (for which we were paid). After seeing some of the data obtained at that course it will surely open your eyes and give you a clear picture of exactly where your time, effort, and money is being spent.

    I hope this helps.

I agree with the others, I was at a golf course and we did the time management sheets, went through them that winter and got us out of picking the range when I showed the cost savings of having the cart kids do it. Of course that was back in the very early 90's when computers and excell weren't in every maintenance facility. (I almost said barn, which is what is was back then).

Hey David I don't have any information myself but I know of somebody who does. His name is Jason Haines. I know him through twitter. He's been doing time management through google docs online. I think he's doing amazing things with it. He said to look him up on twitter @PenderSuper or on Google +. If I get an email address for him I'll pass it along. I think he did a blog post about this. Take a look at http://penderharbourgolf.blogspot.com/
