I have a 5 year old 2500 E, a 2 year old, and a brand new one. They are used for tees, approaches, greens, respectively. I need to switch one out on occasion to use as my verticutter. Which one should I use? Will this put any strain on the electric motor or anything else? I am in the Northeast with bent/poa greens maintained at .130"

I always try to use the one in best condition or the lowest hours if it is going on greens. Maybe less likely to have something go wrong and do some damage. Seems to make me sleep a little better anyway.

We run mostly all e-cuts and when using the Verticut heads I set lightly as going more aggressively will only cause your motors to heat up then they'll shut off until they cool down. For green you should be able to make nice pass with them. For our fairways and larger approaches I added two 7500 fully hydraulic units to handle the deeper more aggressive verticut needs. If they start to heat up and stop then just raise them up a little, as it wont hurt the machine as they are setup that way so they wont burn up the motors. Hope this helps.

    Regards,

We don't use our 2500E to verticut because I didn't feel we were able to get aggressive enough without the motors shutting down like Henry explains. I was basically only able to groom the greens, which we have groomers for! So we use the 3100 to verticut now.
