Wayne,
We had a dismal start in our first year this past summer. However, Mark Johnson with GCSAA, and others, have provided some very beneficial guidance for the upcoming year. I feel better about it now after speaking with them and participating in the conference calls. I also realized that I needed to communicate with the Superintendent at each facility, then go directly to the golf pro or GM to get the donation. If I left it up to the Superintendent, the form will never get returned.
What I would do is cherry pick the ones you want to donate, which are basically the ones you feel would be the biggest draw and would sell in the auction. Go after those hard, but also still communicate to the rest of the courses in the area. But, in the end, communicating directly with the person in charge, whether it is a personal phone call or visit, would end up being the best.
If you have any other questions, contact Mark. He can provide a boatload of information that will help you and help you not feel so overwhelemd.
