We have rain bird irrigation with freedom. We have 2 kenwood tk380 radios for freedom use. I picked up at Motorola pr400 ( commonly used with toro osmac systems) with the thought that I would have this as a third radio for irrigation use. I took one of the kendwoods and the motorola to a local radio store to have it programmed to our frequencies. However, it does not operate the freedom. One thing I've notice about the kenwoods is that it holds the command until the talk button is pressed. Does anyone know if the motorola can be used in a rain bird system. Thanks for any help

    Sam,

    One of two things.

First, try holding the ptt while entering the code. Then release.

Second, I have had issues using Kenwoods and Motorolas together. Can't remember completely, but I want to say it had something to do with the PL codes aren't compatible with each other. I think we had to do away with the PL codes altogether to make it work. piece of cake when you are talking about reprogramming a few hanhelds, but when you have to take the radios out of each satellite and get them reprogrammed, it's not so easy.

We are using a PR400 and a P1225, both from Motorola, no problems.
