I'm not a rocket scientist when it comes to troubleshooting ( or anything for that matter)
But according to some old notes, it tells me if I touch my volt meter set to ohms on a red wire on one side and a black on the other it should still read 0 ohms if it's good? (if it's good is not on my notes so I'm guessing on that one.) Also if I touch red or black on one side or green on the other I get low resistance or 0 then it's bad.
When I touch red to black on opposite ends of my "bad" surge pipe I am getting the number 1 on my display just like if I hadn't touched anything. When I touch a red and green on opposite sides I am getting the same thing. When I touch my red and black probes together I get .6, (starts at 1.3) so I guess my volt meter is working? So why am I getting the same readings on two different test, I shouldn't be getting correct?
I believe I am seeing the same thing out in the field on my first surge pipe in this line. I will check the next one as well and see what I get, might try the first one in line going the other way. What is happening is my one leg on my mim box isn't working, not showing any voltage until I take the wires off the board then the board shows a normal voltage, just like the leg that is working.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks! Mel
