Has anyone used the new Par Aide 15 inch putting cups. I am looking for pros and cons. I personally thick it is a little gimmicky not to mention a maintenance headache. Our golf pro seems to be giddy over it but the maintenance staff isn't too thrilled about it!! Seems like it will take a long time to change nine holes. What about the plugs? Any comments? Thanks

It might take a little longer changing cups but that's about it. Plugs shouldn't be a problem, there is a 15" cup cutter. Gimmicky, maybe. But remember this is for beginners and juniors used for special days/events. I like the idea.

Looks good and might be a way to speed up the game. I like it USGA I am sure will have a cat about this. But with golf rounds drop every year, this may be what the game needs. I first saw this about a year ago and was wondering when they might come. Played a small club many years ago that used 8" and it was fun made some long putts and never had to remove the flag, if fact it was part of the cup. 15" kind of an odd number but I am sure someone did some study and found this to be the size.

We have a few 8" events a year and those work fairly well and we can triplex mow over the hole if we have two 8" events in a row.

From changing hundreds of 8" cups I have my doubts over the ability to pull, store and replace 15" plugs.

I know this is a old post. I have personally done the 15' thing... We here at Reynolds Plantation were one of the first courses to feature taylormade's " Hack golf". We were featured in ESPN magazine. It is definitely something different. There has been some talking of doing it for special events, for example our womens golf association requested it on a couple par 3's this past week. the actual install is quite different as you would imagine. The cup cutter can not be plunged into the green, one must strike it with a rubber mallet, making this a two person job... the plug itself resembles a large birthday cake rather than a plug! we have taken to putting the "Plug" on a piece of plywood approx. 20X20. It is definitely something different, and I wouldn't want to do it every day. 9 holes will leave you with muscles aching that you didn't know you had. nonetheless it is still pretty impressive to putt into a manhole cover....
