We use a Red/White/Blue flag system for determining the hole location on the green. When changing cups some of the flags get rolled up and put into a bucket for use on a different green. In the bucket we carry some spare flags to ensure we have enough for that days set-up. For the most part my cup changers do a good job unrolling the wet ones and letting them dry and some times they don't. We have a handful of flags that have developed some black moldy looking spots on them. Does any one know of a way to clean them without damaging the flag or fading the color on the red and blue ones? Thanks in advance.

We encounter the same problem every year. Soak them in a bucket of cold water with the oxy clean "color safe" powder for approximately 1 hr. Then hang to dry. Make sure to use cold water as the colors typically run if using colored w/ white checkered flags.

We use the same system and I have always just ordered an extra set of flags. We then rotate sets every 2-3 weeks and machine wash the set coming out of the rotation. I buy my flags from Prestige and we easily get 3 seasons out of a set. We then keep the old ones and use them for off peak season in the spring and fall, keep the new ones for the height of the season. Seems like a lot of changing but my course setup guy looks after the whole thing.

    Get a steamer. Works great.
