    Good morning,

This spring has been very trying for locating staff for the season. The procrastinating college and high school options are applying now, even though we've been posting and recruiting since February. The positions that I'm struggling to fill are Full-time Seasonal (March - Dec). Pay rate is comparable to other SE Wisconsin golf courses, but may still be low for my surrounding community in general.

One thought I had was to consider getting staff through a temp agency. But, I'm hesitating as I fear consistency would suffer if the individuals constantly change. But, maybe my fear is unfounded.

Are any of you utilizing Temporary Labor or Contract Labor Agencies for crew positions? I'd love to hear any/all experiences or advice pertaining to this topic.

    Thank you in advance

All of my equipment operators/laborers go thru a temp agency/payroll service. The way we do it, I do all the hiring and firing. When I find someone I want to hire I have the paperwork from the agency and once it's filled out I forward to them and they run a back ground check and drug test. Once they are cleared I can start them working. The whole process takes anywhere from three days to a week. We set the hourly rate and they charge us a mark up. They process the payroll I turn in every two weeks and take care of workers comp. We usually have about 6 or 7 guys thru them full-time for maintenance and the pro shop hires some of their help the same way, they usually have about 5 or 6 on their payroll all part-time. We get the same people everyday, that is how I set it up when we started this. 5 of my contract employees have been here between 2 and 5 years.
