Fellas, Looking for input on an equipment purchase. I want to be able to slice as well as core in a relatively speedy process. Aerway, Bannerman, etc., which peice of equipment do you guys feel is the best. Price will obviously be part of the decision, but not solely. Thanks in advance.

    Kyle,

The old style pull behind "drum" type aerifiers are going to be the quickest. Ryan and Toro both make good units. But, when coring, I feel they spacing is too far apart to be effective. Therefore, we use a Toro 1298 for coring and can do 55 acres in less than 40 man-hours. This is a 3"x4" spacing. If you speed it up, the spacing increases. You can also put slicing or bayonet tines on this machine. Pricey though, at around $28,000.

We also run an Aerway to slice. Very quick, but our unit has permanently mounted slicing blades. Ours was cheap and built like a freight train.

    Kyle,

I just bought a used planet air and I have to tell you that I'm impressed. I have been using the solid tines, but they make one that does both.

    Good Luck,

Take a look at an Aerway: http://aerway.com/ Several options, one can purchase "knives" for greens and larger knives for fairways and has the option to install coring tines also.

Check with your Toro dealer, they have a pull behind that can pull cores, and you can change to the slicer blades also. Works really well and is very fast. We had one when I was in Florida for our 36 hole operation and was a great unit.
