Has anyone had problems with the quality of toro reels when rebuilding a set. Yesterday I was planning to just knock the paint off the new set and ended up grinding more, uneven blades, high in the middle on one and one the left side didn't begin to start till the 4th trip around (about 1 inch in on left side). One other thing to me the blades seemed very soft compared to years past.

In the past I've had no problems, at least with the 14 blade reels 4 years ago. This year I'm replacing six of them but won't be for awhile. I'll post if any issues.

I have changed reels on 5 flex 21's and 3 5410 In the past two years. I had two or three I ground a little more than the rest. Out of 20 reels I don't think that is out of line.
I have done this for 36 years and reels have come a long way
from when I started, some were very bad in those days. I would not be to worried about what you have. I
always clean new reels at least .004 anyway. Same thing with bedknives. Have a good year, keep sharp.
