What are you guys using to mow rough? We have used Nationals for awhile but they seem to be not making them anymore or parts will be harder to get, so I'm told. We have a good bit of hills and slopes and are looking to replace the Nationals with something similar that also we could put verticut reels on for the spring. Any ideas or comments welcome. Thanks

Did you say they are not making Nationals any more? Not pretty but they sure had their place. It was the only triplex I ever saw that the operator could jump off and push it through bad areas.

    Neal,

At our course with a blue/rye/fescue mix we use rotary mowers for best success throughout the year. We have a Toro 4500 for banks and mounds to reduce scalping at 1.5" and a Toro 4000 for the wide open areas.

I knew Ariens had bought National but I had not heard they were out of production. Good mower for banks etc. I had a ancient one for my lawn a long time.

Depending on your mowing height and type of grass you may need to seperate your verticut machine from your rough mower.
