We have 9 flex 21's that are getting a little long in the tooth so to speak. We have 12 total flex cutting units all recently changed to 14 blade reels and rebuilt. I'm looking at replacing with the 2100's but understand the cutting units are not interchangeable. Is this true, is there something that can be fabricated to make them work? I'm open to any ideas. I've also toyed with the idea of just putting on new motors on the old 21's but its the tranny's that give me long term concern.... Any ideas?

The transmissions are not that hard to rebuild. After the first one or two, your technician should be able to fly through them. There are some updates such as the sun-gear and bearing, seals, and the clutch cone. I would figure about 800 to 1000 buck to be safe per unit, and still much less expensive than buying new machines. Also use Repower to purchase your motors if you want to replace them, as they will have the best prices. Just my two cents worth.

    Regards,
