Greetings to all from the Rockies and Colorado.

I am looking for any feedback of those that have used magnation units for improving irrigation efficiency. Please let me know what you have discovered if you invested in this technology. It would also be helpful to know what conditions you have at your course ie; water quality, soil type, annual rainfall, etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light on this product.
    Sincerely,

Jorden when they first came out the salesman gave us a couple of these for our houses and they worked great. The cost for a 12 inch unit for course irrigation was way out of site so......

I would recommend the hose end magnet and give it a try on some hotspots on greens over a 2 day period. I've done a lot of hand watering on my greens over the years [100% sand] and feel that I see a difference in recovery and the water seems to pull in faster on back to back days. My sales person let me use one for a couple of weeks and I ended up buying a couple.

There was a thread on this on TurfNet recently. To pull a quote from it:

"We had a 6" unit at our booster station that watered 4 holes, we installed it after seeing positive results with hand held units on hoses. That said I pulled the unit out after 6 months after not seeing results. The company did back their money back offer, but other than that they were not very helpful in coming up with other alternatives......

    I'll leave it at that."

I've never used it and am highly skeptical of it, but my skepticism has been proven wrong on things a few times as of late.

I was first pitched these things almost 20 years ago. Sounded like snake oil to me then, and still does. Stop and think...if they actually worked, and they have been on the market for 20 years, why isn't everyone using them. Sound science doesn't support the concept. Just my opinion, though.

Look at www.chem1.com/CQ/magwatscams.html for further scientific response to the claim water can be magnetized.

As soon as I heard of this it sounded a bit suspicious. After a quick google search I found http://www.molecularhydrogenfoundation.org/microclustering-the-making-of-a-myth-part-1-facts-claims-and-history/. Just to note I am not a scientist. I did read all four parts of that article but none of the citations.

The basics are that water clusters exist in computer modeling but that they aren't stable in any shape form or fashion and are very hard to detect in the field. Thus the idea of being able to break down water clusters into smaller micro-clusters is unnecessary, which seems to be the main claim of the Magnation people.

I was a bit skeptical about the Molecular Hydrogen Foundation but did find an article on the NIH.gov website that seemed to show it wasn't pseudoscience https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5223313/

    Hello,

I have worked with the biology and chemistry of water and soil for 25 years with over 400 golf and football clubs in 26 countries.

My impression about 20 years ago when a company in California was promising the moon was that maybe there could be a temporary realignment of cation and anion charges but that they would quickly revert back to their natural state.

Hence you could see an effect in hose pipe but after the water runs through a couple of miles of pipe, gets sprayed 20 meters through the air and sits in the ground for a short while the effect is gone.

    Un saludo Michael
