We previously used an old 1" hose to drag fairways. We recently had a fire and our drag hose was consumed by the fire and we are looking for a replacement. I liked the hose, but was just curious if anybody has used the Snake Dew Rope before and their thoughts. If you have used a different type of drag, please let me know your thoughts.
    Thanks

I remember a course purchasing a boat anchor rope? It was my understanding that it was weighted? It had worked well from what I heard.

We made one like the dew draggin that one of the company sells. Ours is 60' of 1' rope that runs through a 20' piece of 2" sch 40. I cut the pipe in half and put the bell end in the middle so that we can store it without taking up room. I epoxyed the ends of the rope together. Run some lines to attach to cart and it performed well for us. We don't drag fairways that often but this setup worked for us.[attachment=0">dew removal.jpg[/attachment">

    Paul,
We currently use a 3/4 inch air hose to drag with. It was here when I arrived, so I don't know the exact age. It is heavy so it does a very good job. I have used the Fairway snake before and thought it did a good job. You might check with Mike over at CCN to see if they are still using the Fairway Snake I bought.

We use 100' foot of yellow bull rope sold by sherrill tree company. The rope is usually a little over $1 a ft. You will get more than a season out of it.

Similar to Justin, but used 3/8" chain and sch80 2" pipe.

Glad it worked, but I have to give all the credit to my former assistant. It was his idea and design. I'll pass this on to him. He'd be happy to know it's working well for others.

We had a 1" weighted lineman's rope that we dragged behind two utility carts. It worked great until a seasonal wrapped it around one of the wheels. The kid would probably still be driving if it didn't war around the wheel so tight that it stopped the vehicle. Had to take the wheel off to unwind the rope but it was so chewed up that was the end of it. Now we use two one hundred foot hoses; works great and is a lot cheaper than some of the marketed drag ropes out there.
