Today the IGCEMA would like to announce that our certificate program is well underway. To date the IGCEMA has sold close to 100 study guides over the last month with very little advertising.

Currently available are the following study guides:

    Hydraulic Troubleshooting
    Electrical Troubleshooting
    Internal Combustion Engines
    Drivelines

These study guides are all we will be releasing until after the summer. There will be 2 more study guides that will be released this winter those study guides are:

    Sprayer Troubleshooting
Cutting Units - (Will include rotary units)

Over the summer the IGCEMA will be working to set-up proctors around the world so that all technicians will have access to this testing. However there is no reason to wait for us. If you are interested in taking this program contact your equipment dealers, suppliers, etc and ask them to register on the IGCEMA website as a proctor. They can be registered Free of charge and in less than 24 hours.

We are also working to gain more acceptance from our industry. We feel that it is important that the industry stand behind the program and recognize it as the industry standard. Recognition of our profession has come a long way and these types of programs are important to that continued success. If your company is interested in supporting our program we encourage you to contact us.

The IGCEMA is working hard to make sure that the future of our industry recognizes the knowledge and skills of qualified technicians and the certificate program is the first step.

We also would like to recognize that many individuals in our industry have been taking tests administered by the EETC. We feel that for many years the EETC has done a great job in providing a measuring tool for technicians. It is for that reason that the IGCEMA Board of Directors is going to recognize all EETC testing that has been taken from January 1st 2010 - June 20, 2011 for the following competencies: Hydraulic and if you have passed all engine tests (2 cycle, 4 cycle, compact diesel). If you have taken and passed these tests and can provide a copy of your certificates the IGCEMA will consider those modules as complete for the IGCEMA certificate program. However all other modules will need to be taken from the IGCEMA in order to gain your certificate.

The following information is how the IGCEMA Program will work:

    1. Order study guides from the IGCEMA bookstore. (Recommended)

    2. Look at the IGCEMA Approved Proctor list and contact them to set-up a date and time to take your tests. (more are being added as we go)

    3. The tests will be 60 questions and you will have 90 minutes to take each exam.

    4. To pass each module you will need to score 80% or higher.

    5. Proctors will have an access code to unlock the testing system. Once unlocked, the system will allow you to purchase the exam online using a credit card or you may work out other payment arrangements with your dealer/proctor.

    6. Once the test has been taken you will have your results immediately and if you passed it will then print out a certificate for you. (We would recommend bringing nice paper for your certificate to be printed on)

    7. Once you have passed all 6 modules successfully the IGCEMA will then send you a nice Certificate packet for your achievement at no extra charge.

    8. Every member will also receive credit on our website for passing each module by receiving an award that will be shown in your user profile on the website.

    9. If you do not pass an exam on the first try you will be given another opportunity to take the exam again Free of charge. However you will need to remember your login information to the test site and schedule a retake with your proctor.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone take part in the certificate program whether you are a dealer, assistant tech, equipment manager, or superintendent the program will do nothing but benefit you and maybe one day become an industry standard in our business. We would encourage everyone to give the program a look and get your technicians involved.
